How did you end up involved in this industry?
My wife and I are both from Van Wert and were living in Dallas. We just had our second child and wanted to raise them around our families. My brother-in-law told me National Door and Trim was hiring. Nearly 30 years later I think “what a great decision.”

What is the most enjoyable part of your job?
All of the parts! I love putting on a different hat every day. I have the opportunity to be involved in so many different aspects of the business. I can be doing a cost analysis on a manufacturing process one minute and installing computer software the next.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
The same thing I tell my kids. “Nobody owes you anything.” Get out and earn it. Whether its happiness, friendship, money or anything else in life, it is up to you. Effort, attitude and integrity go a long way.

How do you enjoy spending your free time?
My wife and I love staying active. We love to travel and go to baseball games. Family and friends are an important part of our life. Four grandkids help keep us young, in spirit at least.

What is you most memorable vacation?
When I was nine, my parents took us to Disneyland in California. They drove 5,000 miles across the country, mostly on Route 66, with three boys ages 12, 9 and 6, a station wagon and a camping trailer. We still have home movies from the trip. Everyone looked happy but I bet there were a few tension headaches!
