Our Leadership Team

Tom Turnwald
Owner, President

Professional

I began my career at National Door & Trim when I was 14 years old working for my family’s business. I really enjoy the family atmosphere that has always existed here.

Dedicated, passionate, hardworking team.

I enjoy the like mindedness of the team members we work with. We are all self-motivated individuals working as a team to compete every day. We strive to move the whole organization forward while serving our customers at the highest level possible.

Personal

I enjoy spending time with my wife of 28 years. We spend many summer weekends at Lake James. I am also an avid golfer, snowmobiler, road biker, and outdoorsman. I serve on the board at Van Wert Health, Van Wert Federal Savings and Loan, and the Business Development Group of Van Wert.

I got my private pilot’s license at age 24.

I was looking for a growing organization and opportunity to apply my knowledge, skills and experiences. It was evident that ND&T was a culture rich and value driven organization that truly wanted me to be a part of their team.

No “I” in Team!

It’s a group of like-minded individuals driven by team results and focused on long term success. While many organizations promote “Culture” and “Partnerships”, we live those values every day. We are motivated to grow and evolve, understanding that if you are not getting better, you are getting worse, because you never stay the same.

Personal

I enjoy spending time with my wife Shanann and our four children Allyson, Abbygaile, Tyson and Nathan. My interests outside of work include working out, home improvement projects and spending time at the lake.

I am married to a twin and we have twin sons. Anyone who tells you twins always skip a generation does not know what they are talking about!

“Reality is always somewhere in the middle.” This has taught me that no matter how clear cut a situation may appear, there is always another point of view or perspective to consider.

We were moving back to town and I was looking for a temporary job to hold us over. After I started I became a strong believer in the quality products we offered. I loved the people I was working with and the opportunity to grow within the company. That was 34 years ago!
All about the people.

We are big enough to make a difference in the market and small enough for each person to make a difference in the company.

Personal

Having five grandchildren close by keeps us busy. My wife and I love to travel – we don’t always agree on where though. She loves the beach and I love the mountains. I am also an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.

I drove in two demolition derbies when I was 18 and 19. One of them with a cast on my arm. It is an absolute thrill.

There are many versions of this quote but this sums it up. “No one owes you anything. Life is what you make it.”

Tony Heffner
Vice President of Manufacturing

Professional

I was given the opportunity to use the 20 plus years of experience in the industry to help improve ND&T’s processes. It was an exciting time to expand the business and continue to provide growth opportunities for our current and future team members.

Experienced, Dedicated, Passionate, Team

My four words really sum it up. We have an experienced team that is dedicated and passionate about what they do and their only motivation is to make thing better for the customer, the employees and the community.

Personal

My hobbies are running, biking and golfing. I also enjoying coaching basketball and baseball.

I’ve done three Olympic distance triathlons.

I don’t have one particular quote that has inspired me. My motivation throughout life has come from short interactions or phrases. When I was younger things like “take things one day at a time, but get up each day and move forward”, “learn what battles to fight”, and “where is your energy best spent” continue to give me perspective. I preach to my kids to be involved and passionate in everything they do. No matter what that may be, set an end goal and continue working towards it. I like the thought process of “Do your actions get you what or where you want to go? If you said no, change your actions.”

Cory Michaud
Vice President of Sales & Marketing

I had a Finance background and an opportunity opened up at National Door & Trim that would allow me to touch all areas of the company—Sales, Purchasing, Production, Logistics. The challenge and ability to influence all areas of the business was very appealing for me.

Teamwork makes the dreamwork.

Our team has small-town values and is focused on big-time results. Our team prides itself on being in business 40+years and our employees truly care about the product we produce. Our team is focused on YOU—the customer. We want to seek to understand your challenges and deliver a specific plan to accomplish your goals. Mutually beneficial relationships are the utmost important to our team.

Personal

I enjoy spending time with my wife Haley, and three sons—Jack, Thomas, and Jesse. I am an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and love the sport of baseball.

I have been skydiving and hope to do it again someday. It is on my bucket list to attend a game in all of the Major League Baseball parks. I currently have visited 13 of them.

“Empty the tank!” This has taught me that no matter what I do in life, if I prepare and give it everything to the best of my abilities, I can live with the results.

Being able to come back to the Northwest Ohio area and work for a family-owned company in the accounting field was my ideal wish when making this career move and I couldn’t find better people to work with than at ND&T.

Family makes everything better.

When working with ND&T, every single team member cares about the quality of the product that we deliver to the customer. From sales, to order entry, to customer service, to purchasing, to production, it is obvious that the team puts the customer first and cares about their satisfaction at all times.

Personal

I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, cooking, doing pretty much anything outside (even mowing!) and crafts of many kinds.

I never thought it possible, but I live in a “House Divided.” Go Bucks!

“Great things never came from comfort zones” – if we don’t continually push ourselves to grow and learn from our mistakes, we will never become better at what we do.
